A little bit about me

Hi! I’m glad you’re here!

A lot of reading goes on in my house, and we’re pretty opinionated about what we read, so let us help you pick your next book. While you should read everything you can get your hands on, have a look around here for inspiration if you’re lacking.

Me! Hello.

A Half-written Memoir is run by meeee! Hi, I’m Deesha. I’m 31 years old, I come from South Africa, and I have been a bookworm since I was a child. There are no restrictions on what I will read, except maybe some stuff my husband likes, and I’d like very much to talk to you about it. If I can inspire you to try an author you ordinarily wouldn’t, that’s a bonus win for me. I have a book on me at all times as a personal rule, and the only time I don’t read is when I’m travelling; taking in the sounds, sights and smells of somewhere new.

I’m a really organised, thorough person, and I’m obsessed with Parks and Recreation (the TV show), science, yoga, and gardening (among other things). I like wine, I love cheese, I ADORE candy. I’m a software developer by day, and now a blogger by night! Some of my favourite authors include Stephen King, China MiΓ©ville, J.K. Rowling, J.R.R. Tolkein, Joe Hill, Robert Heinlein, Nick Harkaway, Robin Hobb… I could go on. I enjoy all genres, including Young Adult, although generally Romance isn’t my thing. I love listening to a variety of classical music while I read, particularly movie scores, Chopin, Debussey, Tchaikovsky, again I could go on.

Advance Reading/Review Copies aren’t a thing here, at least I don’t think so, so all the books I read and review are out of genuine interest. I started this blog as a way to share my opinions with you about what I read. If you think there’s something missing from my reviews drop me a line and tell me about it. This is a new project that I’m really excited about and I’d be happy to hear from you. If you disagree with my review, tell me why! Let’s talk about it, I’m always interested to hear other points of view.

Happy reading xx
